WOW! Ok, I need to say it again, WOW! We had our first ever "Powder Puff" tour.  I can't say it any better than Gene James said it on Saturday. "This is the most fun I've had on a tour." We started out at about 9:30 AM, when the girls teamed up with their "instructors" (not their husbands) for their driving lessons. The "instructors" would start out by giving each "student" a few basic instructions.  Then it was out into the town of Wallace and the surrounding country roads.

When each "instructor" and "student" returned to town, everyone would swich up and do it all over again.  Each "student" drove with at least 5 instructors".  Each of the girls got little bits of information from each "instructor".  The information was basically the same but presented in different ways, making the operation of  a Model T all come together.
Then it was time for a lunch break at the 341 Cafe. The food was delicious as always  (and, yes, Jim Walker had pie).
After lunch we had our Chapter meeting and then it was time for the real test - the actual tour with the girls in the driver's seat.  I have to say that I have never been so proud of just how well they all did.  The tour started with Thelma and Nick leading the way East out of town.  The first test came with a unexpected sharp left turn into and through the church cemetery - Nick lost his hat and "we all" went back to pick it up.  Out on the country roads everyone was safely spaced and looking good.
Than another "stop short". Thelma had run out of gas (she was the driver).  Nick added fuel, then it was off for ice cream in Kingman.  After ice cream, it was back to Wallace.  Other than an occasional killed engine, everythig went great.  From my perspective, each and every one of the ladies were on their game,  They took our instructions to heart and made them their own.  Again, I would like to say how proud I am of each of the new drivers, and all I can say is, "you girls are amazing. GREAT JOB!"
Our new Model T drivers are: Thelma Ellingwood, Valerie Jordan, Mary Walker, Trish James, Diann Hollingsworth, Deb Coyner and Kem Johnson. Thanks to Nick and Thelma for what was a great day . . . .This is "where the fun never ends", until you have a flat tire, or run out of gas!  Steve says he is still "driving miss Daisy"
